This summer, the Anglican Diocese of Quebec is proud to present a new theatre festival in the heart of Old Quebec. A troupe of eight talented young actors from around the province of Quebec will gather in late June to rehearse and perform five diverse productions in Old Quebec. The five plays cater to a range of ages from 5 years, to 105 and are aimed at local families and tourists visiting the Old City. The actors have been selected from a large number of young people who auditioned for this project earlier in the year. They range from recent high school graduates, through CEGEP students, to university theatre graduates. The festival aims to showcase the local talent that exists in Quebec and to contribute to the thriving arts scene in the City.

Of the five plays being performed, none have ever been performed in Canada before. Three of the plays are original pieces, receiving their premiere performances at this festival. These include ‘The Selfish Giant’, ‘School Dazed: A Double Bill’ and ‘An Act of Murder’. The bill is rounded out by a pair of hilarious shows. Richard Nathan’s ‘Scots on the Rock: A parody of Macbeth’ and ‘Please Don’t Send in the Clowns’, a sketch show devised by the troupe themselves.

The Festival runs from the 3rd of July to the 8th of August at All Saints Chapel, inside the close of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 31 rue des Jardins. There will be two local performances in Sherbrooke in July.
